Two days of rafting on the Pacuare River with an overnight stay at the Pacuare Lodge

Kayaking Our two-day Pacuare trip takes you down one of the most exotic and scenic rivers in the entire world. This journey through unspoiled jungle wilderness offers an adventurous ride filled with stunning natural beauty and exciting rapids. Regarded as some of the finest white water in Latin America, this wild, untamed river may be the ultimate wilderness experience in the tropics. The Pacuare is a swiftly running and rapidly changing river, making it one of Aventuras Naturales most invigorating rafting trips. Your trip begins with an early morning pick-up at your hotel. Along the way we'll stop to enjoy a typical Costa Rican-style breakfast before heading onward to the put in. After we reach the river, you'll set off on your first day's journey, making your way down miles of remote rapids. You'll work as a team, skillfully running your small raft past steep canyons where cascading waterfalls plummet hundreds of feet into the river below. A stately jungle rises thousands of feet above the riverbanks. Rare birds and animals hide in the forest cover. Day 1 is filled with excitement as you squeeze through narrow openings between huge boulders and run long stretches of powerful rapids. Action-packed adventure fills each moment of the day as the river weaves and bends, providing a stimulating ride of wet and wonderful pleasure. Further challenges lie a short distance down river where you'll be rafting on Day 2 of this memorable trip. Your rafting adventure on the first day ends at our private jungle oasis, the Pacuare Lodge.

When we arrive at the Pacuare Lodge, our overnight destination on the two-day Pacuare trip, you will find a jungle lodge nestled in the middle of an enchanting and captivating rainforest. Here, you are completely surrounded by nature in her purest and most primitive state. The two-story Pacuare Lodge has comfortable, rustic dining facilities on the first floor and lots of relaxing hammocks in an open air lounge on the second floor. Modern wooden bungalows with thatched palm roofs have been carefully designed to blend into the forest. Each bungalow hides beneath giant trees that have stood guard over this forest for eons. As twilight descents, Happy Hour begins, followed by a delicious hot dinner prepared by your guides. When you feel like calling it a day, you'll grab a lantern and head off to your bungalow, furnished with clean linen, showers, and two comfortable, twin-sized beds. Morning arrives with a deep stillness as you wake to the songs of exotic tropical birds and the rushing rapids of the Pacuare River. Day 2 begins with a hearty breakfast and the excitement of bigger and more challenging rapids to come. At a designated point along the way, you will stop to visit pristine waterfalls and natural waterslides. Lunch will be served along the river.

NOTE: The Pacuare Lodge operates as a separate facility allowing you to stay extra nights.

As the rafting leg of your trip begins, you'll put in at the Pacuare River, one of Costa Rica's truly unspoiled natural treasures. The Pacuare offers miles of meandering waters, sweeping bends, and wild white-water rapids. This river has been declared a wild and scenic river, and offers some of the finest white water in Latin America, providing the adventurous rafter with a ride of unbelievable natural beauty as it winds deep inside one of Costa Rica痴 most impressive primordial rainforests. After a wet and wild white-water ride down the plunging Pacuare, you値l arrive at Aventuras Naturales's Pacuare Lodge in time to enjoy the afternoon sunset as you snuggle deep into your hammock, swinging back and forth without a care in the world. Here you can truly relax - take a quiet nap, help yourself to our open bar, read a good book, or do nothing except immerse yourself in the magnificent beauty surrounding you as Nature lays bare her true glories there on the banks of the Pacuare. On the first floor of the lodge are rustic and comfortable dining facilities where you値l enjoy delicious meals prepared before your eyes. Best of all - our guides do all the cooking and all the cleaning! Your night痴 lodging will be inside your own private, palm-thatched bungalow surrounded by tropical trees and vegetation.

Day 2

Spend today relaxing and exploring at the Pacuare Lodge, with Hiking Treks custom designed to suit your interests and needs. Our knowledgeable guides will explain the ecological importance of each area, and take the time to introduce you to plants and flora that are found nowhere else in the world. You will follow trails that have been used for hundreds of years by the Cabecares Indians, who still walk these paths deep in the rainforest. Other trails take you by small waterfalls that reach 20 feet in height. You値l enjoy an unmatched opportunity to spot tropical birds and wildlife that inhabit this protected environment. An excellent dinner will await you at the lodge, where you can again enjoy the beauty of this unspoiled forest retreat.

Day 3

We'll return to the river after a hearty breakfast, and once again thrill to the Pacuare's rapid waters. The rafts will stop at specially selected sites to let you dart in and out of isolated waterfalls and frolic on natural waterslides. Your lunch will be served on the banks of the river, expertly prepared by your guides. Later, after take out and a stop for you to change clothes and enjoy a snack, we値l deliver you back to your San José hotel.
