Deep inside this forest is a rarely explored world of Nature’s wonder waiting to be discoverd by a select few. This is a world most people will never experience in their entire lifetime. With each turn of your head, your eyes will be drawn like magnets to dozens of species of indescribably beautiful flowers, bushes, and trees, all fighting for their space in this dense, luxuriant growth. Your ears will quickly attune themselves to the quiet, natural rhythm of the forest where a bird’s call can be the loudest sound you hear. Your heart will open to the beauty of our planet as you leisurely stroll around the expansive grounds, communing one-on-one with Nature.

Amidst this natural and vividly impressive scenery, which Disney Studios can never duplicate, you’ll find our very special private and inviting Pacuare Lodge, an oasis of serenity seldom found on this planet. Our jungle lodge is nestled in the middle of this enchanting and captivating rainforest, offering an experience of Nature in her purest and most primitive state. The rustic two-story Pacuare Lodge blends with the forest and is only accessible by raft. You can’t swim to it, you can’t drive to it, and you can’t drop into it because the trees grow so dense in this area. Upon entering this magical lodge, you’ll feel transported to a perfect world completely unlike the one in which you live and work. Within minutes you’ll be completely relaxed and your senses will reveal a heightened awarness. Go on - explore your new playground. Smile, laugh, and play like a child.

Blending naturally into the surrounding forest are five modern wooden bungalows with thatched palm roofs and comfortable beds that can sleep up to three adults. Each bungalow hides beneath giant trees that have stood guard over this forest for eons. As twilight descends, Happy Hour begins, followed by a delicious hot dinner prepared by your guides. Wine and guaro punch are served at every dinner. You must try the sweet guaro made from Costa Rican sugarcane. All meals are included in your visit to the Pacuare Lodge and are prepared in the lodge’s complete kitchen facility. Best of all - the food is always cooked by your guides who also do all the cleaning and dishwashing afterwards!

Your private bungalow is completely screened and comes furnished with clean linen, private showers, and lots of privacy & space. The cleverly designed bungalows, shaded by huge trees and spaced far apart for maximum privacy, offer cross ventilation that keeps your bungalow at a perfect temperature day and night. And here, in your own magical kingdom, there are no radios, no TVs, no telephones (no cellular phones are permitted on this trip), no CNN Headline News to destroy your faith in humankind, no faxes and no computers. In fact, there is no electricity deep inside this jungle. During the daytime bright, pure rays of sunshine reflect off every living and nonliving object. In the evenings candlelight radiates softness around the dining area and the open, second-floor lounge. Hand-held lanterns guide you home for the night.

Once ensconced in your bungalow, the candlelight creates a romantic ambience as it dances off the ceiling and trickles down the walls like transparent drops of honey. The sound of the nearby rushing river easily lulls you to sleep. Morning arrives, quietly announcing itself with a deep stillness. The loudest sounds you will hear are the songs of exotic tropical birds and the rushing rapids of the Pacuare River.

Our Pacuare Lodge is also the central point for hikes on multi-day excursions that can include white-water rafting, hiking, and biking. Accommodations are available ONLY with multiple day excursions.
